QSHE Manager
Location: Manchester
Contract: Permanent
We are currently looking for a Quality, Health, Safety, & Environmental (QSHE) Manager for a client specializing in aerospace manufacturing based in Manchester.
You will be responsible for managing all onsite requirements related to Quality and HS&E Management, including implementing additional controls to ensure legal compliance.
Day-to-day, you will act as a QHSE Manager and coordinator, taking a hands-on approach to HSE management and tasks. You will also serve as the main point of contact for Quality.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Create procedures, SSOWs, and manage onsite PUWER / COSHH / DSEAR; support and complete risk assessments for all process areas.
2. Manage customer and supplier non-conformance reports, leading problem-solving activities.
3. Manage manufacturing losses, including MRB and Scrap; support manufacturing processes through PFMEA and Control plans.
4. Provide mentoring and support for managers, supervisors, and employees.
5. Drive cultural change for onsite HS&E; manage safety & quality boards, monthly KPIs, emergency procedures, employee inductions, HS&E audits, and close-out of findings.
6. Oversee statutory inspections, workplace health monitoring, and develop H&S controls such as signage, PPE, and waste management.
7. Deliver employee HS&E toolbox talks and support onsite contractor inductions, including permit issuance.
8. Develop management systems to achieve ISO 45001 / 14001:2015 certification.
9. Manage the Quality and HS&E team, contractors, consultants, and administrative support.
10. Coordinate with Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental teams on all related activities.
11. Maintain and develop Health, Safety, Environmental Network databases and online portals.
12. Implement and develop Quality and HS&E Management systems, policies, and procedures.
13. Support certification processes for ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
14. Liaise with customers, suppliers, and certification bodies.
15. Create a positive culture for Quality and HS&E.
16. Ensure ongoing legal compliance.
17. Deliver Quality and HS&E training programs.
18. Execute annual Quality and HS&E objectives and targets.
19. Manage PFMEA and Control Plans for manufacturing processes.
Ideal Candidate:
* Member of IOSH (GRAD IOSH preferred)
* Lead auditor certification for ISO 45001 (or previous 18001) & ISO 9001
* Willing to gain NEBOSH certification if not already held
* AIEMA Environmental Status
* Proven track record in Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental Management
* Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Manufacturing background
* Experience with OHSAS 45001, ISO 14001 & ISO 9001 standards
* CDM experience
* ILM qualification
* Train the trainer qualification (PETTLS)
* Experience with PFMEA & Control Plans
