Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant Location: Sheffield (S2, S3) Pay rate: £460 - £600 per week (Depending on experience) Start Date: Immediate Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time Do you enjoy supporting young people who need additional guidance with their social, emotional and mental health? GSL Education are hiring a compassionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to work with schools across Sheffield, including the S2 and S3 areas, supporting students who require additional behavioural and emotional support. As a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA), you will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to help students manage their behaviour, stay engaged in learning, and build confidence in a safe and structured environment. Main Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs. Help students regulate emotions and develop positive behaviour strategies. Support classroom learning and ensure students remain focused and engaged. Build positive relationships based on trust and consistency. Assist with implementing behaviour and support plans. Requirements of SEMH Teaching Assistant: Previous experience working with students with SEMH or additional needs. Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills. A patient, calm, and empathetic approach. Good communication and teamwork skills. An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for a new one). What’s in It for You?
