Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist looking for an opportunity to utilise and develop your clinical skills and leadership abilities? If so, our Specialist Occupational Therapy position may be perfect for you.
The successful candidate will work within the Frailty team alongside other Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, a Consultant Geriatrician and specialist ACPs. The team covers ‘front door services’ including the Frailty Assessment Unit, the Emergency Department and Acute Floor (AMU, AAU, SDEC and short stay ward). These clinical areas are fast paced with a high turnover of patients, and therefore require a dynamic and holistic individual.
Our aim is to assess patients identified as frail on attendance or during admission, and use robust admission avoidance pathways to enable prompt discharge from the acute setting, inline with patient‑centred care and a home‑first model.
The successful applicant will also support the weekend discharge/patient progression rota.

Main duties of the job
* To assess, diagnose/interpret and manage own specialist caseload of complex patients as an autonomous practitioner in accordance with Professional Code of Conduct and Health and Care Professions Council Regulations.
* The post holder will work in close co‑operation with colleagues within all Care Groups to deliver a cohesive service that is user‑led ensuring a consistently high standard of patient care, optimal patient flow that is safe and timely.
* To work closely with team managers and senior therapists to ensure a robust structure of training, supervision and appraisal is delivered to all members within the team.
* To act as a source of specialist advice and support within the Therapy Centre and across the Trust and the wider health service.
* Engage or lead on projects to develop services and learning opportunities for others including band 5s, assistant practitioners, support staff and students as well as celebrating learning and achievements with the wider therapy and MDT teams.

Qualifications
* Degree in Occupational Therapy
* Registered with Health and Care Professional Council
* Evidence of experience in relevant areas of clinical practice
* Evidence of teaching/student experience
* Experience of working within the NHS
* Participated in audit and research
Knowledge
* Evidence of CPD detailing clinical experience relevant to the post
* Evidence of specialist level of clinical reasoning
Skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Willingness to develop skills with focus on continuing personal development
