A small, well-established Building Society is seeking an Interim Head of Risk / CRO to provide short-term leadership and oversight of its risk function.
The role will cover risk from a mortgage lending perspective, alongside operational, regulatory, and strategic risk. You’ll support the Board and senior leadership team in maintaining robust governance, compliance, and effective risk management arrangements.
As Interim Head of Risk, you will:
* Lead the risk and compliance team, managing the firm’s risk controls, exposures, and reporting directly to the governing body (SMF4 – Chief Risk Officer).
* Deliver and maintain an effective and robust second line of defence framework for risk and compliance, including SMF16 – Compliance Oversight.
* Support and, where relevant, deliver the Board Risk Committee workplan.
* Act as owner of the financial crime risk management framework, ensuring compliance with AML regulations, and serve as SMF17 – Money Laundering Reporting Officer.
* Act as the firm’s Data Protection Officer (DPO).
* Provide risk expertise and support to the Board and management to enable delivery of the firm’s strategy and objectives.
