About the Role
We are looking for an experienced CNC Operator to join a leading manufacturing business and undertake the setting and operating of CNC machine tools to produce components to the required quality standards and in accordance with required work schedules.
Key Responsibilities
* Set and operate CNC machines and multiple machines concurrently to manufacture components to specified tolerances, finishes, and drawing issues.
* Perform first-offs, last-offs, routine inspections, and critical dimension checks using CMM and conventional measuring equipment. Carry out self-inspection and apply inspector stamps when authorized.
* Perform basic maintenance on machines and tools according to TPM programs and equipment manuals to ensure consistent machine performance.
* Accurately interpret component drawings and specifications to apply correct part numbers, tolerances, and surface finish requirements.
* Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and job card instructions to ensure manufacturing processes are carried out correctly and efficiently, including in-cycle deburring.
* Adhere to all relevant Health & Safety regulations, including Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments, Safe Systems of Work (SSWs), and Material Safety Data Sheets.
* Ensure work is completed to schedule, maintaining high levels of productivity and efficiency throughout both manned and unmanned operational periods.
* Support and participate in Lean initiatives including 5S activities and Continuous Improvement programs to enhance workplace organization and process efficiency.
* Handle materials and components safely and in line with regulations to avoid damage and ensure safety.
* Monitor and maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they remain calibrated, in good condition, and safe for use.
* Promptly report unsafe practices or faulty equipment to supervision to maintain a safe working environment.
* Undertake additional duties as required, including housekeeping tasks to maintain cleanliness, safety, and efficiency in the Machine Shop and associated areas.
About You
* Proven experience in operating and/or programming CNC machines, including tool setting.
* Hands-on experience with deburring, milling, and turning processes.
* Strong understanding of component inspection practices, with the ability to follow and apply quality procedures and standards.
* Competence in using measuring equipment and inspection tools.
* Basic PC literacy, including the ability to enter data and follow digital work instructions.
* High attention to detail, with a commitment to producing quality work.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
