What’s the role?
We currently have an exciting, permanent opportunity for a confident, innovative and committed Health & Safety professional to join our successful team in Leicester. The role is full time (37.5 hours per week) and will be based at our Integrated Plant in Hamilton however, travel to our secondary plant in Rothley will be required. The successful candidate will work alongside the H&S Manager to provide day-to-day support across all aspects of the Plants.
As the Health & Safety Assistant at Sofidel no two days will ever be the same. This varied, stimulating and demanding role requires a vibrant and proficient professional that is happy to get stuck in and be a part of something great. Due to the nature of our business, this role is a site-based role with no scope for home-working.
Sofidel is big on sustainability and as the Health & Safety Assistant you will play an integral part by supporting our workforce on the journey to create our unrivalled products.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Responsibility for ensuring H&S best practices, policies & procedures are adhered to, including review of regulatory legislation
2. Ensuring all staff receive sufficient H&S related training in order to carry out their function safely & effectively
3. Producing a collection of reports for the H&S Manager
4. Working alongside the wider team to deliver proactive safety initiatives
5. Liaising with internal and external stakeholders on H&S matters
6. Participating in weekly production meetings to ensure an accurate and clear understanding of the Plants targets
7. Review, adapt and implement new risk assessments throughout the Plants ensuring compliance with relevant legislation
8. Evaluate the compliance of machines against the legal requirements and make suggestions on improvements to be made
9. Identify gaps in training and risk assessments and work in conjunction with the relevant department to eliminate potential risks
10. Review, change and develop SSOW
11. Deliver training to staff members on safety related topics
12. Provide support for internal and external audits
What you will need:
13. NEBOSH General Certificate
14. Knowledge of OHSAS18001
15. Experience with ISO 45001
16. Experience of internal & external audits
17. Ability to prioritise and problem solve
18. Competent on IT systems such as SAP and the Microsoft package
