Job Overview:
Head of Finance at Gravitas International will require leadership role responsible for developing and overseeing all finance functions to support Gravitas's strategic objectives. Gravitas is a fast growing, dynamic, SME company specialising in green construction, championing innovative products, challenging traditional industry.
This position requires a seasoned and ambitious leader capable of providing comprehensive financial insights, managing liquidity, ensuring compliance, and fostering collaboration acrossdepartments to achieve business goals, managing Payroll, Debtor's and Creditor's financials.
Financial Planning and Cash Flow Management
·Weekly Cash Flow Management: Engage in weekly management of cash flow, incorporating a 90-day forecast to optimise liquidity.
·Cash Flow Optimisation Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Projects, and Operations teams to effectively optimise cash flow.
·Trade Payables and Receivables Management: Oversee the management of trade payables and receivables to optimise liquidity and ensure payables are effectively tracked with the help of Projects and Operations teams.
Compliance:
·CIS Compliance Maintenance: Maintain CIS compliance including the verification of subcontractors and reporting to HMRC.
·VAT Compliance Management: Manage VAT compliance specifically within the construction industry.
·External Provider Relationships: Own the relationship with external providers for payroll, accounts, Corporate Tax, and R&D submissions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HMRC.
Financial Analysis and Strategic Guidance:
Monthly Management Accounts: Prepare and review monthly management accounts, presenting them to the Managing Director to aid in decision-making.
·Project Profitability Analysis: Regularly conduct financial analysis of project profitability; offer strategic recommendations to enhance financial performance.
·Ad Hoc Financial Analyses: Perform ad hoc financial analyses to support Director decision-making.
·Strategic Financial Guidance: Provide strategic financial guidance to ensure the achievement of all business objectives and financial targets.
Collaborative Business Development
·Lead the Development of the Finance Function: Focus on enhancing the finance function to support organisational growth.
·Building Partnerships: Work closely with the Managing Director while fostering partnerships with the Sales team, Projects team, and Operations team to achieve business objectives and enhance financial understanding.
·Financial Literacy: Enhance financial literacy among the Senior Management and colleagues by interpreting complex financial data and conveying its business impact.
·Financial Processes and Policies: Define and manage new financial processes and policies as required to support organisational growth and adapt to changing business needs.
Must haves:
·ACA / ACCA qualification
·2 years post qualification in a similar in-house role in the construction industry
·Strong understanding of VAT and CIS requirements across the construction industry is essential
·Proficiency in Xero and Excel
·In-depth analytical skills, strategic thinking, and attention to detail are critical to be able to succeed in this role
·Experience in senior financial management, with a history of leading finance functions and driving business growth.
·Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective teams and foster cross-departmental collaboration.
