We require a Clerical Officer to provide admin and clerical support within the Health Records Department at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.
The role involves working within the DHRS team, covering A&E at VHK and occasionally at MIU, QMH.
Responsibilities include providing front-line service to patients in A&E and MIU, recording patient attendance and admissions via Trakcare, and handling anxious or upset patients with empathy and professionalism.
Administrative duties encompass running reports, updating data, preparing and scanning medical casenotes/ED cards, and uploading to the clinical portal.
Training within NHS Fife Switchboard may be required. The role demands excellent communication skills, handling calls from internal and external sources, responding to pager and emergency calls, monitoring alarms, and advising on telephony services.
Adhoc duties may be assigned by Health Records Supervisors to ensure efficiency across the 24/7 Inpatient and Emergency teams.
Accuracy and attention to detail are essential due to data uploads to a live clinical system.
Relevant admin/clerical experience, the ability to prioritise, and work in a busy environment are required. You should be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Educational requirements include Standard Grade (or equivalent) with passes in English and Arithmetic. Good keyboard/timing skills, organisational and listening skills, and a flexible approach are necessary. English language competency and effective communication are essential for safe and efficient performance.
Existing permanent employees must discuss this opportunity with their line manager. Secondment approval is required for internal applications, and a secondment agreement must be in place for external applicants with NHS service.
The salary is pro-rata for part-time hours.
