We work in close partnership with schools to secure exceptional subject specialists who can deliver strong academic outcomes and inspire students across Key Stages 4 and 5.
The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Teacher of Sociology to join a thriving secondary academy from September 2026. This is a permanent or fixed-term opportunity within a well-established Social Sciences department, teaching across Year 10, Year 11, Year 12 and Year 13.
The successful candidate will be passionate about Sociology, confident teaching at both GCSE and A Level, and committed to raising attainment and engagement across the subject.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver high-quality Sociology lessons at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5
• Prepare students effectively for GCSE and A Level examinations
• Monitor, assess and track student progress in line with departmental expectations
• Provide timely and constructive feedback to support academic development
• Contribute to curriculum development within the Social Sciences department
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour, effort and achievement
• Support enrichment opportunities and wider school initiatives
• Follow safeguarding, assessment and academy policies at all times
Qualifications and Experience
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
• Degree in Sociology or a closely related subject
• Experience teaching Sociology at GCSE and/or A Level
• Strong subject knowledge and understanding of exam specifications
• Ability to motivate and challenge students of varying abilities
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
