Service Charge Officer – Moat Homes
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday‑Friday
Salary: £31,937 – £39,922 per annum (based on experience)
Contract: Fixed term, 6 months
Join our team as a Service Charge Officer and deliver outstanding customer service by ensuring service charges are budgeted and charged fairly in accordance with legislation and lease agreements. You will work flexibly from home or our Dartford office and support the social housing sector.
Key Responsibilities
* Setting service charge estimates for all existing stock annually, complying with tenancy agreements, leases and current legislation.
* Reconciling scheme accounts, identifying discrepancies and providing reports for investigation.
* Reconciling actual costs, issuing year‑end statements, and liaising with external auditors.
* Monitoring financial performance of managing agents, challenging inaccurate accounts, and issuing legal notices when necessary.
* Reviewing schemes to ensure reserve/sinking funds are current, notifying residents with audited accounts.
* Investigating and responding to service‑related complaints or queries within set timescales.
* Providing advice and support to produce accurate estimates for new schemes, including capital projects.
* Representing Moat at tribunal hearings and resident meetings.
Qualifications & Skills
* Good standard of education; strong numerical ability.
* Proficient intermediate use of MS Excel and general MS Office.
* Experience with financial and database systems.
* Operational knowledge of service charge legislation and best practice.
* Understanding of lease arrangements in the social housing sector.
