Job overview The Bed Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient coordination under the clinical skills of clinical site manager of hospital bed capacity to ensure timely patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. This role is pivotal in maintaining patient flow across the hospital, supporting clinical teams, and meeting national performance targets. Advert Key Responsibilities: Coordinate real-time bed allocation across all wards and departments. Monitor and manage patient flow from Emergency Department, elective admissions, and transfers. Work closely with clinical teams, discharge coordinators, and operational managers to optimize bed usage. Escalate capacity issues and implement surge plans during periods of high demand. Ensure compliance with NHS targets, including ED 4-hour standard and elective recovery plans. Maintain accurate bed status information and produce daily capacity reports.
