Location: Hybrid (Leeds / Harrogate) Reports to: Head of FP&A Department: Finance – FP&A Role Overview Lookers Motor Group is seeking a commercially minded, analytical and proactive FP&A Business Partner to support our dynamic finance team. This is an exciting time to join the business as we build a best-in-class Group FP&A and Centre of Excellence function. This role will play a critical part in developing new performance reporting, enhancing insight available to operational leaders, and acting as a trusted finance partner to help drive informed decision‑making. As we expand the FP&A & BI team's capabilities, and strengthen our commercial capability, this role will take ownership of designing, building, and embedding new business performance reporting alongside supporting executive decision making. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with complex data, commercially strong, and able to translate financial and non‑financial performance into meaningful insight for the business. You will work closely with operational finance, dealership leadership, the FP&A and Business Intelligence teams to deliver reporting, analysis, and strategic support across key business areas. Key Responsibilities Operational Performance Reporting Develop and maintain new operational and financial performance reporting aligned to business needs. Lead the production of weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reporting packs, including KPIs, variance analysis, and performance commentary. Ensure consistency, accuracy, and clarity across all reporting outputs, supporting standardisation across the Group. Work hand in hand with the Business Intelligence team to evolve data sources, dashboards, and automated reporting solutions. Business Partnering & Commercial Insight Provide commercial analysis to support operational decision‑making, including sales, margin, cost performance, and productivity metrics. Identify and explain key performance drivers, trends, and risks to support operational and senior leaders. Conduct deep‑dive analysis on underperformance, operational issues, and improvement opportunities. Act as a trusted finance partner to operational leaders, providing insight, challenge, and recommendations. Build strong relationships with operational teams, ensuring finance is a supportive and enabling function. Tools, Systems & Reporting Enablement Use current tools, systems and datasets (including BI tools, data warehouses and finance systems) to extract, manipulate and analyse data. Support the rollout of new reporting solutions and system capabilities across finance teams. Troubleshoot data issues, reconcile reporting outputs, and ensure data accuracy and quality in collaboration with the BI team. Forecasting & Planning Support Support annual budget cycles and periodic reforecasting Review assumptions, analyse trends, and challenge submissions where required. Partner with operational finance to ensure alignment between actual performance and forecast expectations. Contribute to the evolution of Lookers’ finance rhythm and transformation of FP&A capability. Key Skills & Experience Experience in FP&A or commercial finance roles, ideally within retail, automotive, or multi‑site environments. Strong commercial acumen with the ability to interpret operational drivers and link them to financial outcomes. High proficiency in Excel and confidence working with large and complex datasets. Experience using BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and/or willingness to develop skills. Strong analytical capability with excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Confident communicator with ability to influence and challenge stakeholders across operational and finance teams. Proactive, curious and comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment with evolving reporting needs. Experience designing or improving reporting frameworks.
