Offer description

We are looking for a part-time Business Support Officer to provide administrative support to the Stockport Interpreting Unit (SIU). The SIU offers interpretation and translation services across Greater Manchester, including contracted and non-contracted services, and delivers interpreter training courses. The Business Support Officer will carry out a range of administrative tasks to support the smooth running of the service. Key activities include:

1. Dealing with customer or colleague inquiries via telephone, email, and MS Teams.
2. Scheduling and organizing virtual and physical meetings, training courses, and events.
3. General administration tasks such as ordering, invoicing, and monitoring email inboxes.
4. Checking and processing timesheets, setting deadlines, and resolving discrepancies.
5. Handling personal documentation and data, including sensitive information, ensuring confidentiality and record accuracy.
6. Overseeing the payment of interpreters and maintaining employment documentation and training records.

You should have a commitment to high customer service standards, with experience in dealing with internal and external customers. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. You must be proficient in standard office IT applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook, and have experience working with SharePoint. Willingness to learn in-house ICT systems, including a bespoke booking system, is required. Attention to detail and the ability to work with various data sources are important. The role requires travel to the Hardman Centre, as the postholder will be based in the office every Friday.
