GROUND WORKER
Location: London & surrounding areas

Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday
At Ground Control Geotechnical Solutions, we deliver high-quality, sustainable geotechnical and groundwork services that support safe and efficient infrastructure projects. We’re looking for a Ground Worker to support mobilisation, excavation, and reinstatement (MER) works on site.
What you’ll do
1. Support mobilisation of tools, equipment, and materials to and from site
2. Prepare worksites, including clearing areas, setting up barriers, signage, and access
3. Assist with excavation works, including manual digging and material handling
4. Support reinstatement works such as backfilling, compaction, and finishing
5. Operate basic tools and equipment including compactors, shovels, and wheelbarrows
6. Help keep sites clean, safe, and well organised
Key Responsibilities:
7. Assist MER Operatives with excavation and reinstatement activities
8. Handle and maintain tools and equipment, reporting defects when identified
9. Follow HSE policies, RAMS, and site safety requirements
10. Attend toolbox talks and daily safety briefings
11. Wear correct PPE and maintain safe working practices
12. Work collaboratively with the site team to meet project deadlines
What we’re looking for:
Essential
13. Experience in general labouring, groundwork, or construction
14. Basic knowledge of excavation and reinstatement works
15. Ability to use hand tools and basic equipment safely
16. Good understanding of health & safety on construction sites
17. Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather
18. CSCS Card
19. Street works modules - Reinstatement & excavation
Desirable
20. Experience with reinstatement, paving, tarmacking, or landscaping
21. Experience operating small plant or machinery
22. First Aid or relevant safety qualifications
