Responsible to: The Employer (Direct Payment Holder) Closing Date: About the Role We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and motivated Personal Assistant / Support Worker to support a 30-year-old male living in Sutton Coldfield. He is passionate about music, cars, and all things retro and vintage. He occasionally uses a wheelchair and requires assistance with certain day-to-day tasks, particularly those that require two hands. The individual has experienced periods of severe anxiety and depression, so we are looking for someone with a supportive nature and a good understanding of mental health needs. The primary aim of the role is to promote independence, provide companionship, and support the individual in leading a fulfilling life both at home and in the community. Main Duties and Responsibilities * Provide encouragement and practical support to access the community and engage in social activities. * Support the development of independence, assertiveness, and self-confidence. * Accompany the individual to events and activities of interest. * Motivate and assist with planning and attending activities. * Help with weekly scheduling, appointments, and organisation. * Assist with basic financial management and informed decision-making. * Support with everyday living tasks to promote autonomy. * Offer reassurance and emotional support when needed. * Prompt and encourage healthy food choices. Person Specification The ideal candidate will: * Be punctual, reliable, and flexible. * Be a non-smoker (preferred). * Demonstrate honesty, trustworthiness, and professionalism. * Maintain a high standard of care and conduct at all times. * Be willing to undertake training relevant to the role. * Prioritise health and safety in all aspects of work. * Respect the individual's property, privacy, and confidentiality. * Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle (business insurance required if using own vehicle). * Ideally have experience supporting individuals with mental health conditions and/or physical disabilities.
