Job description
My client is a well established Housing Association, looking for a highly skilled Senior Building Surveyor with a strong technical background and experience managing complex disrepair cases. This role is critical in supporting legal teams, advising on property defects, and ensuring housing standards are met across a diverse property portfolio.
You'll be the go-to expert for complex and high-profile cases, delivering detailed technical reports, offering practical solutions, and acting as an expert witness in court when required.
Role and responsibilities
* Provide expert technical support on legal disrepair claims, including inspections, reports, and court appearances as a subject matter expert.
* Support multi-disciplinary repair and maintenance projects, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and customer satisfaction.
* Conduct inspections, assess repair needs, and identify appropriate, cost-effective solutions.
* Investigate and report on housing condition issues and technical defects.
* Advise operational teams, contractors, and consultants on maintenance and repair best practices.
* Assist with grant applications, permissions requests, and planned maintenance programmes.
* Maintain high standards of customer care, communication, and data quality across all projects.
Requirements
* Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS)
* Degree in Building Surveying or a related field
* Strong technical knowledge of UK building regulations, construction standards, and H&S legislation
* Proven experience in property surveying, asset management, or building consultancy
* Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
* Commercial awareness and a commitment to delivering value for money
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems
* Full driving licence and access to transport (or ability to travel efficiently)
