Birkbeck, University of London, has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Lecturer to join our teaching team in the School of Creative Arts, Culture and Communication.
We are looking for an Associate Lecturer to convene and teach our module, German, starting next year on a part-time contract.
As part of our programmes, you would teach the modules:
* German 3 and German 4
* 25 hours in term 2, Friday 6-8.30pm
* Friday 16 January 2026 – Friday 27 March 2026
Your role will include convening the module, running workshops and seminars, offering one-to-one tutorials, module administration, and assessment.
To succeed, you will have knowledge of the German language and experience teaching German at stages 3 and 4, with qualifications at the corresponding level or equivalent professional/industry experience.
The minimum requirements are:
1. Demonstrable knowledge of German language and teaching experience
2. Understanding of adult learners needs and ability to engage them
3. Effective oral and written communication skills
4. Proficiency with IT including Word, Excel, email, and experience or willingness to use Moodle & Teams

Remuneration:
Payment is hourly, starting at £68.13 per hour, inclusive of London Allowance and holiday pay, based on continuous service. This rate includes a multiplier covering preparation, teaching, administration, assessment, and examination duties.
Contract:
