We are partnering with a highly respected, London-based hospitality group to appoint a senior commercial leader to oversee their international wine division. This is a rare opportunity to shape the global wine strategy for an iconic brand with a long-standing reputation for integrity, provenance and excellence.
The Role
The Global Wine Director will take full ownership of the organisation’s wine strategy — from international sourcing and producer relationships through to commercial performance, distribution, compliance, and brand alignment.
This is not a sommelier or service-led role. It is a strategic commercial appointment, suited to someone who understands the global wine landscape and can lead a complex, multi-market wine business with clarity and conviction.
You will work closely with founders and senior leadership, leading a specialist team across the UK and Europe while managing key international partners. The remit spans buying, category management, brand guardianship, sales development and operational accountability, with the aim of driving sustainable growth and ensuring the wine proposition remains true to the organisation’s ethos.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and execute a global wine strategy aligned to the brand’s philosophy, values and commercial objectives.
* Build and nurture long-term relationships with producers, suppliers and partners across Europe and beyond.
* Lead the international wine operation, overseeing production, sourcing, compliance, logistics and stock management.
* Drive commercial performance across multiple channels including trade, retail, wholesale, online and internal venues.
* Create and deliver a clear growth plan for domestic and international markets.
* Shape the wine portfolio, ensuring authenticity, provenance and quality remain at the forefront.
* Manage budgets, forecasting, margins and P&L performance for the entire wine division.
* Partner with senior internal stakeholders to support education, training and brand representation.
* Act as a visible ambassador for the organisation within the wine trade.
About You
We’re looking for a senior wine professional with significant commercial leadership experience — ideally from a global producer, importer, merchant, wine group or hospitality brand with its own wine operations.
You will likely have experience in:
* International sourcing and producer partnerships
* Buying, category management or portfolio leadership
* Multi-channel commercial strategy (on-trade, off-trade, wholesale, DTC)
* Logistics, compliance and cross-border operations
* Leading teams and influencing senior stakeholders
* Working with premium or heritage-led brands
* Balancing commercial growth with authenticity and brand values
Above all, you will be someone who understands the cultural importance of wine within a brand ecosystem and can protect its integrity while accelerating its reach.
Location & Commitment
London-based with regular travel across Europe / Globally.
