South West based charitable housing association BCHA was founded over 50 years ago with a mission to meet housing needs and end homelessness. We focus on building and providing affordable, secure homes and supporting individuals to lead independent lives. We value equality, dignity, and respect for everyone.

BCHA is a diverse and growing provider of housing, learning, and support services. We are recruiting Specialist Support Workers for our Liberty project.

In partnership with the Salvation Army, we support survivors of ‘modern slavery’ in the South West.


Position:

We seek passionate individuals to join us as Specialist Support Workers, supporting ‘survivors’ of modern slavery. These roles involve providing holistic, trauma-informed support tailored to each individual, working within a multi-agency framework to help ‘survivors’ access entitlements, rebuild confidence, and develop skills for recovery and independence.

Our key aim is to empower individuals and promote independence.

We offer:

* Joining a professional, friendly team with backgrounds in social work, substance abuse, housing, trauma care, or youth services;
* Working in a Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE);
* Using a holistic, trauma-informed approach;
* Applying transferable skills to achieve positive outcomes;
* Full training, support, and supervision.

Note: Being a driver is a requirement for this position.

Requirements:

* Provide weekly one-on-one sessions with ‘survivors’ focusing on outcomes;
* Work within professional boundaries using trauma-focused strategies;
* Build trust and listen effectively;
* Manage complex needs, challenging behaviors, and risks;
* Advocate for ‘survivors’;
* Establish effective relationships with other agencies;
* Empower ‘survivors’ towards independence;
* Be self-motivated, proactive, resilient, empathetic, and non-judgemental.
