We are keen to employ a diverse workforce that reflects the people of Scotland. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and particularly from groups currently under-represented, including people with disabilities, those from minority ethnic communities or from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

West Lothian Council is committed to far-reaching changes in the delivery of our Education Services. These changes include providing the support and environment needed for you to excel in your job and develop your abilities. Our dedication is demonstrated by the whole council achievement of the Investors in People Standard.

St Ninian’s Primary School is a denominational primary school serving the communities of Dedridge, Adambrae, and Murieston. The school roll is 245, and children are organized into 11 classes. The Headteacher, Acting Depute Head, and Acting Principal Teacher work alongside a dedicated staff team of teachers and pupil support workers. The school also has an Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) setting with an Early Years Officer, Early Years Practitioners, and pupil support workers.

St Ninian’s Primary School is at the heart of the community and has strong links with its cluster schools and the feeder secondary school, St Margaret’s Academy. The catchment area is widespread and has a diverse and multi-cultural school community, with 21% of learners having English as an additional language. At the heart of the school’s vision are Christian values and a strong Catholic ethos, forming a community of faith and learning. Partnership working and creative self-evaluation approaches are central to the success of this vibrant learning community.

A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential. Written approval by the Catholic Church will be required for this position. Please see www.sces.uk.com for further information.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment, and the cost will be met by the candidate. The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18.
