Position
A vacancy at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust for a Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner to work within the Older Peoples Therapy Team at Poole Hospital.
Clinical Areas
Emergency Department, Rapid Assessment Consultant Evaluation (RACE) Unit, Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) clinic, Older Peoples Medical and Complex Care Wards.
About the Team
Part of a specialist frailty Multi‑Disciplinary Team (MDT), delivering patient‑centred, timely, comprehensive assessments, interventions and discharge planning.
Key Responsibilities
* Complete therapy assessments on an individual basis.
* Engage patients in rehabilitation to regain function.
* Communicate effectively with a diverse patient group.
* Support and guide other therapy support staff.
* Participate in weekend rota (7‑day working).
Qualifications & Experience
* Previous experience working with older people in an acute hospital or community setting.
* Competent in completing therapy assessments.
* Good organisational skills and confidence in providing support to staff.
* Valid driving licence (preferred).
* Ability to assess patients in their home environment with support from qualified clinicians.
Training and Support
In‑house training and ongoing support to achieve required competency levels.
Location and Relocation
Base Location: Poole Hospital. The role will move to Royal Bournemouth Hospital approximately July 2026, with a planned service move to Bournemouth site in March 2025. The service may move site temporarily or long term this year or next. Any change unrelated to Trust/National terms will be handled accordingly.
