The Role
As a Principal Engineer, you will ensure engineering coherence for Modelling and Simulation (M&S) projects, translating user requirements into engineering designs, monitoring delivery quality and timeliness, and participating in the development lifecycle of M&S products. Travel to Nova sites across the UK and client locations may be required. The role supports a hybrid working model but involves onsite work at client locations as needed.
Key Accountabilities
* Translate user requirements into engineering designs.
* Oversee development of M&S capabilities, ensuring timely and quality delivery.
* Collaborate with software engineers and data analysts to solve complex issues.
* Explain M&S capabilities to non-technical audiences, including military operators.
* Engage proactively with the team to resolve issues.
* Support team members throughout the engineering lifecycle.
* Lead technical demonstrations and presentations for customers.
Key Capabilities
* Leadership through the engineering lifecycle.
* Knowledge of software development approaches.
* Testing and acceptance of software/hardware.
* Use of engineering tools such as Jira.
* Generation of minimum viable products.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Experience in Defence Modelling & Simulation.
* Maritime domain experience, including RN Combat Management Systems and Design Authority experience, Tactical Data Links, and communication systems.
* Leadership of engineering teams.
* Translating user requirements into engineering artifacts.
* Experience in technical demonstrations and presentations.
* Rapid concepting and prototyping skills.
* Data analytics expertise.
* UK Citizenship (no dual passports).
* Ability to obtain SC clearance at minimum.
