Employment type: Full-time permanent – remote based. Salary up to £48,000 DOE + commission.
Metro Rod works with the likes of Equans, Amey, Aldi, Mitie, Greggs, McDonalds, Wetherspoons and many more in the FM, Social Housing, Property Management, Retail, Industrial and Leisure sectors. Founded in 1983, Metro Rod and sister company Metro Plumb are leading providers of drain clearance and maintenance services delivered on a largely reactive basis, with over 60 franchisees across the UK.
Within the Waste & Water Services Division of Franchise Brands are also Willow Pumps and Filta, expanding businesses focused on sewage pumps and commercial kitchen solutions. Together, the brands provide a complete one‑stop shop for keeping water and waste flowing.
What does it entail?
As a Technical Sales Manager you will support franchisees and the sales team in scoping, pricing, winning, and executing drainage projects. With your background in drainage & pumps and exceptional communication skills, you'll ensure each project meets and exceeds client expectations.
You’ll bring a passion for uncovering and developing opportunities, supporting the sales function that will drive business growth, backed by a solid understanding of the AMP cycles of UK water companies. This role offers a platform for growth and the chance to leverage your technical skills while fostering strong client relationships.
* Supports the sales team in scoping, pricing, winning, and executing drainage projects.
* Coordinates with franchisees across the UK, travelling regularly as needed.
* Identifies and develops new opportunities within the drainage sector.
* Ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
What do we look for?
* Outstanding background in drainage operations (survey, maintenance, rehabilitation, pumping systems, and treatment plants).
* Experience of sales support, project scoping, or technical consultancy is preferred.
* Ability to run projects end‑to‑end, from client scoping through to delivery.
* Hands‑on approach; willing to get involved practically where needed.
* Happy to travel extensively – approx. 3 days per week.
* Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety, compliance standards and drainage law.
* Commitment to exceptional customer service and ownership of challenges through to resolution.
* Motive to learn and develop continually.
* Collaborative, proactive, enthusiastic, and solutions‑focused with strong stakeholder management.

* IOSH Managing Safely
* SMSTS
* Hands‑on training in patch repairs and full‑length liner installs
* Confined spaces Medium Risk certification
* OS19X
* Knowledge of plumbing work
