Recruiting for an experienced Estimating Manager to join a leading structural steel specialist delivering high-profile projects across the UK. Excellent opportunity for a commercially focused professional to lead and develop an estimating team while playing a key role in converting sales opportunities into project revenue.
Responsibilities
* Lead, manage, and develop the Estimating and Sales Team.
* Oversee the management of incoming enquiries and tender opportunities.
* Prepare and oversee accurate project estimates within agreed margins.
* Liaise and negotiate with subcontractors to secure competitive pricing.
* Personally convert a minimum number of enquiries while supporting team targets.
* Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, engineers, and architects.
* Produce pipeline and enquiry reports for senior leadership.
* Attend pre-tender interviews and post-tender presentations.
* Review estimating team performance and support continuous improvement.
* Support value engineering and practical construction solutions.
Requirements
* Previous estimating experience within structural steel or construction.
* Strong commercial awareness and understanding of costing processes.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
* Experience pricing projects ranging from 50–3,000 tonnes advantageous.
* Good understanding of structural and civil engineering principles.
* Experience reviewing Tekla models beneficial.
* Strong leadership and line management experience.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Self‑motivated with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* BSc/HNC in Building Studies or similar desirable.
* MCIOB or RICS chartership advantageous but not essential.
