Sword is a leading provider of business technology solutions within the Energy, Public and Finance Sectors, driving transformational change within our clients. We use proven technology, specialist teams and domain expertise to build solid technical foundations across platforms, data, and business applications. We have a passion for using technology to solve business problems, working in partnership with our clients to help in achieving their goals.
About the Role:
We’re supporting the delivery of a major, multi-year Network Separation Programme for one of the UK’s leading energy infrastructure providers. The programme involves the separation of critical IT and Operational Technology (OT) systems, with significant changes to infrastructure, platforms, and processes.
As a Test Analyst, you’ll contribute to the quality and stability of the programme’s deliverables by planning and executing structured testing across a wide range of systems and environments. You’ll interpret functional and non-functional requirements to define meaningful test conditions and ensure appropriate coverage across test phases.
Working closely with business analysts, architects, and technical teams, you’ll help ensure that testing is traceable, risks are identified early, and outcomes are clearly documented. Your work will support key programme decisions and contribute to a successful and well-governed delivery.
As a Test Analyst, you will:
1. Analyse functional and non-functional requirements to develop high-quality test conditions and test cases
2. Design and execute manual test scripts across a wide range of testing phases — including system, integration, regression, FAT, SAT, and UAT
3. Track, prioritise, and manage defects in collaboration with developers and delivery teams
4. Work cross-functionally with BAs, architects, and engineers to understand system designs and expected behaviours
5. Support the Test Manager and wider programme team with test reporting, documentation, and planning activities
6. Document clear test evidence, contribute to go/no-go decisions, and help build trust in the programme’s delivery
Requirements
7. Experience in manual software testing within structured, process-driven environments
8. Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and the role of testing in delivering high-quality solutions
9. Ability to interpret technical and business requirements and translate them into actionable tests
10. Excellent defect tracking and documentation skills
11. Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work well across technical and non-technical teams
12. Ideally, experience or exposure to Operational Technology (OT), infrastructure, or networked systems
13. Familiarity with FAT, SAT, or UAT processes is a plus — but not essential if you’ve worked in similarly structured environments
