Salary £32,000 - £35,000 Depending on experience We are recruiting for a Category Lead for Direct Spend - someone who can manage and steer the end-to-end sourcing of commodities e.g. fuel, oils, AdBlue and power related parts e.g. engines, gearboxes, and batteries for our buses. You'll be working for our Direct Spend Category Manager, to support our operating companies. It's a role which will give you plenty of stakeholder exposure across our business and you'll need to build strong relationships with our external supply chain partners. Managing a portfolio of critical contracts by delivering end-to-end procurement; and owning relationships with key suppliers you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the continuity of supply and mitigating risk to the business. You'll not be on your own - we have many subject matter experts and there's always someone to bounce ideas off or sense check your approach. It's definitely a 'sleeves up' role - we are a busy department and there is lots of opportunity to help shape our strategy as we as business, evolve our fleet to achieve our net zero targets. We want to nurture work relationships and love to see the department in the office collaborating and thriving, but we recognise the advantages our people gain from working from. This role offers a hybrid working pattern. You'll work out of our Stockport office 3 days a week to optimise those team building opportunities and we offer 2 days a week working from home. There's just a couple of 'must-haves' from our perspective… A strong background in in formal tendering, contract and supplier relationship management, with a focus on direct spend for power related items. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You'll need significant experience with analysing complex data sets - a keen eye for detail, a passion for numbers and be commercially focused. Some experience of developing and supporting team members. Ideally, you'll hold, or be working towards, relevant CIPS qualifications. If that's you we'd love to see you apply.
