Job Overview:
We are a local agency based in Greater Manchester and are proud to work in partnership with an outstanding Primary School in Chorlton. The school is seeking an enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant who has experience supporting children and young people.
The role will be supporting a child in Year 2 who has a rapidly deteriorating eye condition. Previous experience supporting a child with visual impairment is desirable and not essential as the school sensory team will be on hand to provide support and additional training where necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and educational activities
- Provide one-on-one support to students with special education needs
- Work closely with children, including those with autism, to facilitate their learning and development
- Help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Support teachers in managing classroom behavior and ensuring a safe learning space
- Assist in preparing materials and resources for lessons
- Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other staff members
Requirements:
- Prior experience working with children, particularly in special education or toddler care settings
- Ability to educate and engage students effectively
- Strong communication skills to interact with students, teachers, and parents
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping children learn and grow
