Are you passionate about food, eager to learn, and ready to kick-start your culinary career? Novotel Liverpool Centre is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Commis Chef to join our dynamic kitchen brigade.
What You'll Be Doing:
* Assist in the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes under the guidance of senior chefs.
* Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety in all kitchen areas.
* Support in the setup and clearing of kitchen stations for daily service.
* Follow kitchen procedures and recipes consistently.
* Work collaboratively with the team to ensure a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.
* Be willing to learn and take on new challenges in a fast-paced environment.
What We're Looking For:
* A passion for food and a desire to develop culinary skills.
* Some experience in a kitchen environment is preferred but not essential—training will be provided.
* A team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
* Good communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.
* Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience:
* No formal qualifications required, but a basic food hygiene certificate is desirable.
* Previous experience in a kitchen environment is an advantage but not essential — we are happy to train the right candidate.
* A keen interest in food preparation and presentation.
* Willingness to learn and develop within the role.
* NVQ Level 1 or 2 in Professional Cookery (or working towards it) is a plus, but not mandatory.
* Strong work ethic, punctuality, and the ability to follow instructions.
* Awareness of health and safety and food hygiene standards in the kitchen.
