The Lancashire Diabetic Eye Screening Programme is seeking a Mobile Diabetic Eye Screener/Photographer to provide clinics in the Lancaster and Morecambe area.
As a mobile screener, you will join a busy, professional team, conducting community-based clinics to photograph patients' eyes for diabetic retinopathy assessment. Empathy and the ability to screen patients daily are essential. You will receive training and, once qualified, work independently in a pressured environment, so a cool head is crucial. We have one vacancy in the North Lancs, Lancaster, and Morecambe area, based at Whitegate Drive in Blackpool, with daily clinics in Lancaster. A full UK driving license is required as you will be driving a screening vehicle between sites.
Main duties of the job
* Screening and digital photography of retinal images
* Delivering digital photographic retinal screening to patients with diabetes aged 12 and over registered with a Lancashire GP
* Installing mobile equipment at designated locations following safety protocols
* Setting up rooms for screening sessions according to policies
* Conducting screening sessions in accordance with national standards and protocols
* Explaining procedures to patients as per policies
* Electronically recording patients' identity, demographics, and obtaining consent
