About the Role As a Planning Compliance Officer, you’ll play a key role in upholding the integrity of our planning system. Your responsibilities will centre on investigating and managing cases of non-compliance with planning permissions, using your judgement, research skills, and ability to negotiate effective solutions. This includes: Investigating reports of potential planning breaches Conducting thorough site inspections and desk-based research Engaging with stakeholders to resolve issues informally where possible Recommending and preparing formal enforcement actions when required Collaborating with internal teams, statutory bodies, and the public You’ll be part of a proactive, supportive enforcement team, working across a diverse geographical area with a wide range of planning challenges and opportunities. What We’re Looking For We are seeking someone with: A solid understanding of Town and Country Planning legislation, policy, and guidance Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and negotiation abilities Experience in investigating complaints or enforcement issues (preferably planning-related) A proactive, independent approach with the ability to manage caseloads and meet deadlines Confident IT skills, especially in Microsoft Office and digital planning tools Whether you’re already experienced in planning enforcement or looking to take the next step in your planning career, we will support your development and help you grow into the role.
