An exciting opportunity is now available for an experienced Registered Nurse to apply for an A Deputy Matron post for The Surgical Emergency Unit (SEU)
The potholder will act in a leadership role working with and deputising for the Matron for SEU.
There is a requirement to participate in the Matron weekend rota which is usually one weekend day a month.
Main duties of the job
Job Summary:
·To provide professional nursing leadership in the Surgical Directorate
·To work as a senior nurse with professionalism, authority and expertise, acting as a role model for other nursing staff
·To undertake full strategic and operational responsibility on behalf of the Matron in their absence and to deputise at meetings on the matron’s behalf and at their request
·To facilitate the efficient and effective management of resources within the Service
·In conjunction with the matron and Clinical Lead, to ensure that the standards of the service meet the strategic aims and development of the Trust
·Ensure the efficient and effective operation of the service on a day-to-day basis
·Supervise and directly manage the senior nursing team in collaboration with the Matron
·In collaboration with the matron contribute to the strategic development for the Directorate including the utilisation of resources which impact on the budget such as staffing, equipment and consumables.
·To lead areas of development based on the requirements of the unit
·Participate in the Matron on call Rota
·To provide supervision / training to staff and students to develop nursing skills in and ensure that policies / procedures are implemented and evaluated to ensure that educational / development opportunities are optimised
