Responsibilities
As part of the Specialist Services – Environment & Regulatory team, the successful candidate will:
Provide technical oversight of private sector housing, environmental health and safety, licensing, grant surveying, and building control.
Deliver customer-focused specialist advice and services, ensuring continuous development and improvement by staying updated with current and emerging legislation, best practices, and policies.
Manage complex or contentious applications, cases, and inspections, acting as the single point of contact for customers and attending court as appropriate.
Provide functional guidance to customer service advisors and caseworkers in at least one area of specialism.
Own key professional and technical stakeholder relationships for day-to-day service or project delivery.
Contribute to the Council’s legal duties under various acts, including the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 and the Environmental Protection Act.
Become an accredited officer under the Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS).
Engage in emergency planning and election duties as required, including working unsociable hours.
Access and accurately update all relevant information systems in accordance with Data Protection principles.

Qualifications required include:
Level 1: Educated to NVQ level 3 / A Level standard or equivalent experience.
Level 2: Educated to A’ level standard/NVQ 3 and/or experience in a specialist area, with a degree in a relevant subject being desirable.
Level 3: Degree/relevant qualification and/or extensive work experience in a specialist area, working towards a professional qualification.
