SEN & Mental Health Teaching Assistant Location: Caerphilly CF81 Hours: Full-Time | Term Time Only | Monday–Friday, 08:30 – 15:00 Pay: £100 per day via PAYE weekly pay Start Date: 7th of September 2026 Are you compassionate, patient, and passionate about helping young people thrive? Your Role As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting students with a range of additional learning needs, both in and out of the classroom. Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff, you'll help create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students can develop confidence, independence, and resilience. You'll: Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with additional learning needs Adapt activities and explanations to meet individual learning styles and abilities Support students with emotional regulation, communication, and social development Encourage engagement, independence, and participation in lessons Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to implement support strategies Promote a calm, safe, and nurturing environment where students feel supported and understood Celebrate progress and achievements, helping every student reach their potential Who You Are We're looking for someone who is: Patient, empathetic, and genuinely committed to supporting young people Calm under pressure and able to respond positively to challenging situations An excellent communicator with strong relationship-building skills Flexible, proactive, and adaptable to the changing needs of students Experienced in (or eager to gain experience in) SEN support, care work, youth work, coaching, or educational settings Passionate about inclusion and making a meaningful difference in students' lives DBS-checked (or happy to apply) If you've supported individuals with additional needs, worked in care, volunteered with young people, or are considering a future career in education, psychology, or therapy, you already have many of the qualities we're looking for.
