A warm primary school in Merton is looking to appoint an enthusiastic Year 1 Teacher to start January 2026. The Year 1 Teacher will plan sequenced lessons that establish secure foundations in phonics, early reading, emergent writing and number sense. Use assessment to identify needs and run effective small-group support to close gaps. Work with teaching assistants to scaffold learning and to provide targeted interventions. Maintain accurate records of progress and engage parents with clear feedback and next steps. Participate in whole-school events, moderation and curriculum development activities. Person specification Qualified teacher with recent Year 1 or early-primary experience and strong phonics knowledge.
