About The Role As Accountant & Tax Assistant
Are you passionate about retail, collaborations and world leading innovation? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! The Finance & Legal Assistant will play a leading role in delivering the overall finance strategy, with key focus upon commercial agreements, recovery, stakeholder collaboration and management, finance planning, and driving annual revenue targets.
As an Accountant & Tax Assistant, you will:
* Bookkeeping and Accounting
* Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Activities
* Treasury Activities
* Ensure that financial and accounting records controls are maintained which accurately reflect in, all the income and expenditure of the company in accordance with the company plan
* Looking for cost-reduction opportunities
* Developing and monitoring cash flow statements
* Managing and coordinating monthly reporting, budgeting and reforecast processes
* Analysing targets
* Producing accurate financial reports and information
* Providing insights on the financial health of the organisation
* Preparing quarterly and annual tax compliance
* Ensuring that tax returns are filed in accordance with tax authorities, within the set deadlines
* Developing relationships with external contacts such as tax authorities, auditors and solicitors
* Researching tax laws, gathering information and explaining options for best practice
* Assisting in any tax audits or inspections
* Ensures business processes, administration, and financial management
* Taking ownership of (financial) administration, including creditor management, debtor management and invoicing
* Produce invoices in the Finance ERP - Xero system and monthly maintenance of accounts
* Maintains an accurate filing and record keeping system for all financial statements and company documents
* Participates in the execution of changes to procedures, policies, and systems to facilitate expansion, compliance, and scaling of the business
* Credit application form filling
* Leads planning and forecasting activities with business partners to achieve business and company goals
* Reviews financial reports
* Prepares financial forecasts
* Monitors financial details to ensure legal compliance
* Analyzes revenue, expenses, cash flows, and balance sheets
* Assists management to make financial decisions
* Investigate means to improve profitability.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
* 3–5 years of solid experience in accounting, tax compliance, and general financial operations, preferably within a public practice or corporate finance environment
* Proficient in preparing and lodging BAS, IAS, payroll tax, and income tax returns across a range of entity types (individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships)
* Familiar with interpreting basic legal and regulatory tax requirements, and comfortable providing clear, timely, and practical advice to clients or internal teams
* Knowledge of commercial documentation, such as invoices, contracts, and supplier agreements, and awareness of obligations relating to GST, fringe benefits tax (FBT), and superannuation
* Understanding of confidentiality obligations, NDAs, and data protection principles relevant to handling financial and client data
* Experience with debtor management, aged receivables, and supporting issue resolution or payment negotiations
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills – clear, client-focused, and professional
* Strong commercial awareness and analytical mindset: highly competent in Excel with the ability to interpret and communicate financial data effectively
* Proven ability to support business units by translating tax and financial insights into actionable operational decisions
* Resilient, organised, and proactive: able to manage competing priorities and deadlines while maintaining high attention to detail and accuracy
* Results-oriented and accountable, consistently meeting deadlines and KPIs
* A collaborative team player who supports and uplifts colleagues, with the confidence to take initiative and continuously improve processes
