A high-achieving Mixed Secondary School in Southampton is seeking an organised and enthusiastic Photography Early Career Teacher (ECT) to join their successful Art and Design department. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a vibrant and well-equipped visual arts environment where students are encouraged to develop photographic confidence, visual imagination, and technical camera skills across KS4 and KS5. The successful candidate will inspire teaching and learning by delivering engaging, high-quality practical lessons and ambitious creative projects. You will maintain a positive studio and darkroom environment, manage camera equipment and editing software effectively, and ensure that photography spaces remain safe, inspiring, and fully equipped for both digital and traditional film techniques. Responsibilities will include planning and delivering curriculum content across digital photography, lighting techniques, film development, and post-production software, as well as preparing students for external examinations. You will also play a key role in curating exhibitions, student showcases, and departmental enrichment activities across the school. The role requires someone who is practical, highly organised, and deeply enthusiastic about Photography and Visual Media. Strong attention to detail, a passion for contemporary lens-based media, and the ability to guide students through complex coursework portfolios are essential.
