* Fixed term - Part Time, but meaningful: Covering 11 months of maternity leave, 18.75 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8:30 am - 5 pm). Working patterns will be agreed with the Head of Department to support both the service and your work-life balance.

Job responsibilities
To include, but not be limited to:
1. Providing efficient, accurate, and high-quality service to clients and patients.
2. Producing high-quality work and understanding departmental techniques.
3. Preparing histological sections with routine H&E and special techniques.
4. Providing rapid, high-quality frozen section services.
5. Participating in all departmental rotas.
6. Performing quality control of slides and assisting with EQA.
7. Conducting batch acceptance testing of reagents and assisting in data analysis.
8. Supporting method development and validation.
9. Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment per protocols.
10. Meeting turnaround time standards for samples and results.
11. Using departmental IT systems proficiently.
12. Participating in departmental meetings and planning work.
13. Demonstrating flexibility to meet service needs.
Person Specification
Experience
* Some theoretical and practical knowledge in pathology disciplines.
* Previous relevant laboratory experience and proficiency in techniques.
Qualifications
* IBMS-accredited Biological Sciences degree or equivalent in pathology.
* Current registration with HCPC.
* Specialist Diploma or equivalent experience.
Depending on experience, the role may be Band 6 equivalent, pro-rata.
