Risk and Governance Manager - 12 months Inside IR35
Location: Bristol (On-site 2-3 days/week)
Contract Type: Full-Time / Contract
We are seeking an experienced Risk and Governance Manager to oversee risk management processes, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated effectively. You will collaborate with senior leadership and stakeholders to develop a robust risk framework that supports strategic decision-making and improves business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the organization’s risk management efforts, providing guidance and technical advice.
2. Engage with key stakeholders regularly to prioritize and manage risks.
3. Conduct training needs analysis and facilitate training programs, both internal and external.
4. Participate in cross-government networks such as the X-Gov Assurance Network and Risk Assurance Working Group.
5. Ensure effective execution of risk management processes and high-quality risk data for decision-making.
6. Assist in developing strategic and corporate risks aligned with business plans to support Corporate Planning.
Management:
1. Manage and develop the BA Risk Officer, providing support, training, and performance guidance.
2. Set objectives and monitor progress for skill and knowledge development.
3. Governance (10%)
4. Develop and implement governance frameworks, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.
5. Support governance activities for ELT, ARAC, and the Head of Business.
6. Attend governance meetings such as MDCC, IAGB, and CROB.
7. Promote sound decision-making through best practice governance methodologies.
8. Coordinate communication among stakeholders, committees, and working groups.
General:
* Manage contracts such as British Standards Online (BSOL) and oversee the BA budget.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
* Knowledge of risk policy/process (JSP892) is highly advantageous.
* Excellent report writing and communication skills for engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
* Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
* Good understanding of risk processes and policies.
* Experience in managing and developing teams, including risk officers.
* Proven experience in risk assessments, providing risk advice, and supporting governance meetings at senior levels.
