We are recruiting a hands-on and enthusiastic Bookkeeper to join our dynamic, luxury property development company, based in central Brighton.
Responsibilities:
1. Recording Financial Transactions: Accurately record all income, expenses, and financial activities using accounting software.
2. Payroll Processing: Manage payroll operations, including calculating wages, withholding taxes, and issuing payments.
3. Accounts Payable and Receivable: Track invoices, payments, and overdue accounts while maintaining strong supplier and client relationships.
4. Relationship Management: Foster positive relationships with trade and supplier accounts, and ensure timely internal communication between company departments.
5. Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements with internal records to identify and resolve discrepancies.
6. Budget Monitoring: Assist in tracking budgets, identifying variances, and recommending adjustments.
7. Expense Management: Monitor expenses and recommend cost-saving measures.
Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
Must-have:
* Proficiency in accounting software Xero.
* Strong understanding and experience of bookkeeping principles and practices.
* Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
* Ability to analyse financial data and identify discrepancies.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills for supplier and client interactions.
* Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas.
* Proven ability to perform basic math calculations accurately (e.g., interest and percentage calculations).
Nice-to-have:
* Tax preparation experience, collaborating with accountants to prepare and file tax returns.
* Experience generating management accounts for directors.
* Certification as a bookkeeper or accounting technician.
* Experience working in construction or property sectors.
* Strong multitasking skills for managing multiple accounts and projects.
