Additional Needs Assistant (Maternity Cover)
Part‑time | Mon-Wed, 9am-3pm | £ per hour | BT17
We're recruiting an Additional Needs Assistant to support a children's early years programme. This role involves providing a safe, welcoming environment and helping deliver play‑based learning activities tailored to children with additional needs.
Temporary role until end of June 2026, with potential for extension.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Support the delivery of a safe, stimulating and varied programme of play and learning activities for children with additional needs
2. Promote children's holistic development and maintain a child‑centred environment
3. Help plan and prepare activities targeting individual learning needs
4. Carry out observations, assessments and contribute to individual support plans
5. Build supportive relationships with parents/carers and encourage engagement
6. Participate in supervision, team meetings and training
7. Ensure high standards of hygiene, safety and general housekeeping
8. Prepare the room before sessions and tidy/clean after sessions
9. Maintain confidentiality in all matters relating to children and families
10. Comply with all organisational policies, procedures and safeguarding requirements
11. Undertake any other reasonable duties as required
