Join JLR as a Senior System Architect for Vehicle Platform Health Management, where you will play a key role in shaping the next generation of our all-electric platforms. This is a chance to work at the centre of our Digital Product Platform team, helping define how our future BEV vehicles detect faults, manage them safely and keep features available for customers in real world conditions. It is meaningful work that directly supports modern luxury, safety and the overall driving experience. You will be responsible for designing the underlying health management strategies that ensure robust fault handling, graceful degradation and compliance with functional safety, cyber and legislative requirements. The role brings you into close collaboration with almost every engineering domain, from powertrain and chassis to body, ADAS, cockpit and offboard systems. It is a highly influential position that shapes how hardware and software behave across the full vehicle.
Responsibilities
* Cross functional problem solving engaging with engineering teams across the vehicle to resolve complex fault handling and degradation issues, ensuring the system behaves predictably in real world conditions.
* Vehicle level robustness testing working closely with validation and verification teams to define and shape the tests that prove fault handling performance at full vehicle level.
* Health management architecture leadership acting as the subject matter expert for system and software design, leading the definition of future health management strategies and supporting the development of next generation architectures.
* Robustness and resilience design driving the creation of core design principles and delivering system and software requirements that define how faults are detected, monitored and managed across the hardware platform.
* Integration and compliance oversight contributing to health management software architecture specifications, ensuring alignment with service and manufacturing standards, and reviewing and signing off system and software integration results at vehicle level.
Qualifications
* Systems engineering mindset using DFMEA to identify robustness gaps and resolve complex integration issues at vehicle level.
* Good domain knowledge of chassis, BEV powertrain and body systems and the system failure modes.
* Good knowledge of power electronics in BEV platforms.
* Functional safety capability across automotive hardware and software, including safety design controls and degradation behaviours.
* Architecture definition and design using Visio, MATLAB Simulink and Catia Magic MSOSA, implementing diagnostics control strategies for AUTOSAR compliant ECUs within an agile lifecycle aligned to JLR CS QMS and ISO 26262.
* Experience in AUTOSAR, QNX and knowledge with a solid understanding of fault handling implementations on OS & middleware.
* Ability to architect fault handling solutions for MCU safety manual related and hardware protection related requirements.
* Diagnostics tool expertise using Vector CANape, Vector CANalyzer and Corvus to investigate vehicle level fault handling behaviour.
* Structured problem solving applying 8D and similar methodologies to drive clear, evidence based resolutions.
* Requirements capture with the ability to define stakeholder Health Management and Degradation requirements accurately and clearly.
Benefits
* Discounted car purchase (open to family members, too).
* A 52 week maternity leave policy and a 4 week paternity leave policy. Other parental leave policies are available.
* A competitive pension.
* A JLR company performance-related bonus.
* An employee learning scheme providing funding for education, training and other activities which support the development of personal skills and promote lifelong learning.
* Access to open, employee-led support and social networks.
