Director of Pharmacy & Medicines
The Pharmacy and Medicines team in Fife is evolving, and we are looking for a dynamic, forward‑thinking leader to help drive that transformation. NHS Fife serves a population of around 370,000 people, delivering integrated services across primary care, community, mental health, and hospital settings. We are committed to improving population health, reducing inequalities, and delivering sustainable, high‑quality care in line with Scotland’s national priorities.
The opportunity
This is a key senior leadership role within our Pharmacy & Medicines Service, offering the opportunity to shape services at scale and pace. As Deputy Director, you will lead the development and delivery of pharmaceutical care aligned to:
* Population Health – prevention, early intervention, and equitable access
* Service Renewal – redesigning services to improve outcomes and sustainability
* Sub‑national planning – strengthening collaboration across systems and regions
You will play a leading role in advancing our integrated pharmacy model and leading major transformation programmes, including:
* Digital Medicines and data‑driven care
* Medicines safety and high‑risk medicines programmes
* Transformation of hospital pharmacy clinical and supply services
* Development of future workforce models across the whole service

Work schedule and benefits
Starting 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected. The role offers flexible working and family‑friendly policies, fully supports disabled candidates and those with long‑term conditions or who are neuro‑divergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.
Requirements
A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment. To work in the United Kingdom, an individual must demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigration Service.
