Job Overview
The NPD Technologist will support the development of exciting new products from concept to launch, ensuring they are delicious, innovative, commercially viable, and aligned with Flower & White's brand values. The role will involve hands-on kitchen work, project management, and cross-functional collaboration with operations, technical, and commercial teams.
Duties
* Support the NPD process from idea generation, kitchen samples, scale-up, and factory trials through to product launch.
* Develop creative recipes and product concepts that meet consumer trends, customer briefs, and business objectives.
* Work closely with the Head of NPD to deliver seasonal innovation, limited editions, and long-term pipeline projects.
* Liaise with suppliers to source new ingredients, ensuring they are compliant with technical, quality, and cost requirements.
* Conduct kitchen development trials, produce samples, and prepare products for customer presentations.
* Support factory trials and first productions, ensuring smooth handover from development to manufacturing.
* Maintain accurate project records, including formulations, specifications, and trial reports.
* Keep up-to-date with food trends, competitor activity, and category insights to inspire innovation.
* Work cross-functionally with Technical (for compliance and safety), Operations (for feasibility and scale-up), and Commercial (for customer engagement).
* Ensure all new products align with Flower & White's commitment to quality, sustainability, and gluten-free excellence.
Skills
* Degree (or equivalent) in Food Science, Food Technology, or related subject.
* 1–3 years' experience in an NPD role within food manufacturing (bakery, confectionery, or snacking desirable).
* Strong creative flair with a passion for food innovation and trends.
* Good understanding of ingredient functionality, recipe formulation, and process development.
* Hands-on approach with the ability to translate ideas into prototypes and commercial products.
* Project management and organisational skills; able to work to deadlines and manage multiple projects.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Knowledge of retailer requirements and product launch processes is advantageous.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £13.00-£15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 25 per week
