Locum Consultant in Interventional Radiology

Main duties of the job
* Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of all patients presenting to the Hospital
* To deliver a high-quality imaging service with a focus on Interventional Radiology
* To share, with colleagues in the Imaging Department, the management of all patients referred to the Trust
* To share in the general radiology work of the department including currently a 1 in 12 on call rota. No interventional on call currently
* To support radiographers and sonographer staff in the department and also be involved in the teaching and training of specialist registrars grade, junior medical staff, nursing staff and medical students
* To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit
* To have responsibility for and actively participate in continuing professional development (CPD)

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Medical Degree
* FRCR or Equivalent
* MD or equivalent Higher Degree or evidence of relevant research
Registration
* Full GMC Registration (GMC Licence to Practice is mandatory before employment commences)
* Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register: CCT (or within 6 months of receipt of CCT at time of interview) or CESR (or within 6 months at time of interview)
Clinical Effectiveness
* Understanding of clinical governance and ability to demonstrate ongoing CPD.
* Experience of guideline appraisal.
* Participation in relevant local audits.
* Ability to interpret and apply clinical research.
* Participation in relevant national audits.
Personnel Circumstances
* Residence within 10 miles by road or up to thirty minutes travelling time of the hospital for purposes of on‑call emergencies.
* Fit to undertake the role with satisfactory Occupational Health clearance.
* Satisfactory DBS clearance.
Clinical Experience
* Excellent all round experience of DGH work.
* Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in General Radiology.
* Expertise in all aspects of vascular and non‑vascular intervention and reporting.
* To be able to undertake independent interventional work.
* Able to take full and independent responsibility for clinical work and delivering service without direct supervision.

Teaching
* Knowledge and ability to teach all grades of trainees and medical students.
* Understands learner centred teaching.>
* Teaching ability and experience in conducting clinical/radiological meetings.
* Has attended Teaching the Teachers or similar course.
Clinical Governance
* Able to demonstrate a broad understanding of the principles and elements of clinical governance.
Personal Skills
* Ability to co‑operate in a democratic team environment.
* Flexible attitude, team player with good management skills.
* Leadership Skills.
