Overview
This is a Shift Leader role at Tesco. You will oversee store operations on shift, help customers, and lead a team to deliver great service while maintaining safety and store standards.
Availability
Availability windows are the periods during which you are expected to be available to work. The role requires you to be scheduled within these times. We will provide three weeks’ notice of your exact shifts. We are open to flexible availability and encourage you to contact us if your availability differs slightly from the advertised times. (Minimum guaranteed hours policy: a minimum of 16 hours per week; options to work 12 or more hours per week are available.)
Responsibilities
* Work in a fast-paced retail environment with variety
* Take ownership of running duty shifts, coordinating the team to deliver a clean, well-stocked store that exceeds customer expectations
* Be there for customers, listening to them and helping to ensure they leave with what they came for
* Look for ways to improve service, including coaching colleagues and giving feedback to the team
* Guide and support colleagues in-store to maintain a safe place to work and shop
* Maintain an understanding of store performance and assist managers in delivering actions to improve operations
* Lead from the front and set a strong example for the team
Qualifications & Requirements
* 18 years or over to apply
* Coordinating the store team to deliver an easy, customer-focused shopping experience
* Supporting colleagues to deliver daily priorities and take regular breaks
* Opening and closing the store, with duty cover decisions made with safety in mind
* Acting as the go-to person for day-to-day queries in the absence of a manager
* Maintaining a clean, tidy, well-presented store
* Supporting managers with seasonal, community and charity events
* Contributing to a positive, inclusive team atmosphere and providing great customer service
* Keeping the team informed on communications, changes, or updates
* Staying knowledgeable about store performance and identifying ways to improve operations
* Coordinating store improvements and removing obstacles to service excellence
* Following health and safety routines and ensuring colleagues do the same
* Recognising and celebrating colleagues providing great service
