Job Description: As a Teaching Assistant (TA), this job description is designed using the professional standards for teaching assistants. TA's will work closely with Teachers to support the delivery of high-quality education and assist in creating a positive learning environment for students. This role involves providing individual and small group support, assisting with classroom activities, and helping to maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment. General Responsibilities: - Provide support to students during lessons, helping them to understand instructions, tasks, and concepts. - Assist with the planning and preparation of teaching materials and resources. - Work with small groups of students to reinforce learning, provide additional support, and facilitate activities. - Help to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported. - Assist with behaviour management strategies and help to promote positive behaviour among students. - Support students with special educational needs or disabilities, implementing individualised support plans as required. - Provide feedback to teachers on student progress and engagement. - Assist with administrative tasks such as record-keeping, organising resources, and preparing displays. Specific Responsibilities: - Regular health and safety checks as per Independent School Standard (ISS) requirements to include: medical boxes; fire safety checks. - Develop and maintain a suite of risk assessments: individual children; rooms; subject areas; Alternative Provision; trips etc. - 1:1 support for specific children as per school/child requirements. - Develop and support the school sensory provision for students. - Support new colleagues during their induction period. Qualifications: - A bachelor's degree in education or related field is desirable; however, a good standard of English and Maths at GCSE level is required; with other qualifications being considered. Previous Experience and Skills: - Previous experience working with children or young people in a Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH)/Autism independent educational setting is desirable. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required. - A good sense of humour and kind disposition is required. - Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships around the characteristics of trust, respect and kindness with students and staff is a fundamental part of the role. - Flexibility and adaptability, with a ‘can-do' attitude and willingness to take on a variety of tasks. -The ability to work to an agreed quality standard and timescale is required. - A passion for education and a commitment to supporting the learning and development of children and young people.
