You’ll shape technical direction, elevate engineering standards, and drive a phased migration to scalable, cloud-native solutions using AWS. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong delivery focus, stakeholder collaboration, and team development. Key responsibilities include: Lead, coach, and support a cross-functional team of software and test engineers. Set and monitor team performance metrics (e.g. KPIs, OKRs) and personal development plans. Champion modern software engineering practices and DevOps culture using AWS-native tools. Drive the refactoring of monolithic PHP codebases into modular, scalable, cloud-first services. Advocate for PHP best practices (PSR, Composer, PHPUnit/Pest) and clean architecture. Support the adoption of CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions or AWS CodeBuild/CodeDeploy. Promote containerisation using Docker and orchestration via ECS/Fargate. Align team output with strategic product goals and collaborate closely with Product Managers. Identify risks, manage dependencies, and ensure successful, timely delivery. Promote continuous learning and innovation within the engineering team. Lead Agile delivery practices and optimise engineering workflows. What are we looking for? Proven experience as an Engineering Manager, Lead Engineer or similar. Advanced knowledge of PHP (7.x/8.x), Laravel, and Composer. Strong hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, CodePipeline, IAM, etc.). Demonstrated experience modernising legacy applications and managing microservices.
