1) Exercise of general professional duties
A teacher who is not a principal shall carry out the professional duties of a teacher as circumstances may require:
* (a) if employed as a teacher in a school under the reasonable direction of the principal;
* (b) if employed by a board on terms under which he/she is not assigned to any one school, under the reasonable direction of that board and of the principal of any school where he/she may be required to work.
2) Exercise of particular duties
(a) A teacher (other than a principal) shall perform, in accordance with directions from the principal, such duties as may be reasonably assigned.
(b) Teachers assigned under paragraph 1(b) shall perform duties as directed by the board or principal of the school where they work.
3. Planning
* Planning and preparing courses and lessons;
* Teaching pupils according to their educational needs, including setting and marking work;
* Assessing, recording, and reporting on pupils' development and progress.
4. General
* Promoting the progress and well-being of pupils;
* Providing advice and guidance on educational, social matters, and future careers;
* Making records and reports on pupils' personal and social needs;
* Communicating with parents and external bodies;
* Participating in meetings related to these activities.
5. Assessment/Reporting
Providing assessments, reports, and references for pupils, respecting confidentiality.
6. Staff Development/Professional Development
* Participating in staff development schemes;
* Reviewing and improving teaching methods;
* Engaging in further training and professional development;
* Advising on curriculum and assessment development.
7. Discipline/Health and Safety
* Maintaining order and safeguarding health and safety;
* Participating in school meetings related to curriculum, administration, or pastoral care.
8. Public Examinations
Participating in exam arrangements, assessments, and supervision.
9. Management Activities/Administration
* Contributing to staff recruitment and development;
* Managing or coordinating teachers' work;
* Participating in curriculum and pastoral management tasks;
* Handling administrative duties, including supervision and attendance.
10. Number of Days/Hours of Work
* A full-time teacher shall work 195 days per year, with specific hours and breaks as specified;
* Work hours and duties are subject to the school's policies and regulations.
11. Staff Cover
Supervising pupils during teacher absences, with conditions based on school size and teacher availability.
