Key Responsibilities:
* Develop new joining technologies from concept level to industrial readiness level for BIW manufacturing.
* Review existing joining processes and identify opportunities for reducing CO2e footprint.
* Conduct benchmarking and best practices studies, including analysing competitor solutions and performing cost/benefit analysis.
* Write joining process standards and develop and maintain PFMEAs for different joining technologies.
* Collaborate with project teams to review CAD models and provide technical input on the feasibility of various joining methods.
* Carry out root cause investigations, capture lessons learned, and embed improvements in foundation documentation.
Job Requirements:
* Experience with Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Self-Piercing Riveting (SPR), Resistance Spot Welding (RSW), Adhesive Bonding, Laser Welding, or Flow Drive Screw joining.
* Knowledge transfer and best practices from the engineering industry to the automotive environment.
* Self-motivated team player with the ability to listen to others and demonstrate enthusiasm and passion.
* Leadership skills to take the lead, achieve results, and meet deliverables.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, with the ability to engage with project stakeholders at all levels.
* Proactive problem solver with strong interpersonal and negotiating skills.
* Flexibility to travel to multiple sites while maintaining a base location at the home site.
Education:
* Degree or equivalent qualification in a joining or material discipline.
