Community Integrated Care is one of the UK’s largest health and social care charities. We work hard to enriching the lives of people with many different care needs. It’s exciting and rewarding work, and we’re full of pride and passion for what we do.
Since the early days, we’ve grown to provide many innovative and bespoke care services to thousands of people across England and Scotland. We want to provide support based on the principles of choice, dignity and respect. This resonates in our vision of ‘Your Life, Your Choice’ and our strategy ‘Best Lives Possible’.
We have strong values and we’re proud to pioneer new ways of delivering social care to stand out in our sector. In the past two years, we have won or made the shortlist for over 100 national and regional awards!
We are also focused on our people. Our Support Workers are dedicated and passionate about going ‘the extra mile’ for the people we support and in return, we go the extra mile for them by investing in pay, recognition, wellbeing and continued professional and personal development. We will provide you with all the training, support and personal protective equipment you need in your role and will help you develop, should you decide you want to develop your career with us.
We are different In lots of ways (that’s what makes us so interesting) with our ages ranging from 40 to 79.
Some of us are able to mobilise around our home independently and some of us require hoisting with the assistance of two support workers. We have different challenges within our lives which include visual, physical, mental, and learning disabilities. We have a staff team that are all fully trained in all our needs. We require our staff team to support us with personal care, eating and drinking, accessing the community and looking after our home. We are kind and friendly and love to chat with our staff team but sometimes behaviours of concern can arise.
We enjoy accessing the community to do activities which we enjoy which include, going on day trips and visiting local areas such as Gateshead, Metro Centre and the coast, we enjoy shopping, going out for lunch at local restaurants, pubs and cat cafes and planning holidays. Three of us have our own cars and we love going out in them to get to various places.
Whilst we are within our home we enjoy, listening to music and watching our favourite TV shows.
Within our home we are mostly friendly and enjoy engaging in conversation with our support staff and have a great sense of humour. Some days can be challenging though.
We would not enjoy spending time with people who are bossy or pushy as we can make our own decisions but may require a bit of guidance. We don’t enjoy it when staff are loud or are shouting as it would tend to make a few of us upset as we enjoy peace and quiet.
We always have 5 support staff on shift with various shift patterns. We have 3 staff on 8am - 8pm we also have a sleepover starting at 8pm and finishing at 8am this shift is usually done by a staff member that has done a day shift. We also have a waking night shift starting from 8pm and finishing at 8am. We then have a shorter day shift from Monday to Saturday which starts at 10am and finishes at 5pm.
There is always experienced members of staff on shift to offer plenty of advice and support.
In order to support us to have the Best Life Possible our team have a good understanding of physical disabilities, mental health and learning disabilities.
